Myself and Hannah Appleton both yoga teachers in Nottingham and are very passionate about caring for our environment and our community.

What we do?

Lead outdoor yoga practices followed by cleaning up the area using litter pickers with help from the council.

We inspire behaviour change in everyday life, so as we go about our day if we see some litter, bin it.

Inspire to make more aligned choices, to be conscious, choose to reuse, refill or recycle.

Why is this important?

The world is vast, the amount of plastic which has been produced in the last 60 years isn’t going away, we need to be the change and choose sustainable living to tackle this problem with plastic.

It has to start somewhere, respect your environment, respect others, respect the world.

Be the change.

Why is this relevant to Yoga?

In yoga we talk about Ahimsa - non violence - being kind to others and not hurting other living things. This will be why there is a ‘trend’ of Yogi’s who are vegetarian or vegan so no harm comes to another living creature and Saucha - cleanliness - meaning caring about the environment in which we humans and all living creatures live. We practice respect ourselves, one another and the world as a whole. We first have to take responsibility and be the change we want to see for future generations.
