Moon Yoga Flow |

This is something I have been working with for some time. The power of the moon (and that of the sun too).

Through my own journey and struggles I have found by tuning into the moon has given real focus, new energy and understanding of my-self.

Learn how journalling and meditation along side your asana practice works wonders.

Learn how our bodies are much like the phases of the moon ever changing and needing different levels of effort and energy at different times of the month.

If this is something with sounds of interest I am setting up 4 weeks of two hour workshops working with the moon phase.

We will be setting intentions, working with affirmations and manifestations. Along with journaling, yoga and meditation.

Awaken your Wild Goddess within offering a package New and Full Moon Circles

24th November (New Moon) and 15th December (Full Moon) - Both Sundays 6.30-8.30pm.

Clean Yoga

IMG_4378.JPG

Myself and Hannah Appleton both Yoga Teachers and are very passionate about our environment and caring for our community.

In yoga we talk about Ahimsa - non violence - being kind to others and not hurting other living things. This will be why there is a ‘trend’ of Yogi’s who are vegetarian or vegan so no harm comes to another living creature and Saucha - cleanliness - meaning caring about the environment in which we humans and all living creatures live. We practice respect ourselves, one another and the world as a whole.

Blog about the birth of Clean Yoga |

Saturday the 12th of May saw roughly 20 yogi’s join together to practice outside with a difference, after our session in the sun we grabbed our rubber gloves, bin bags and litter pickers to give back to the surroundings we had just practiced in.

Being a Yoga Teacher and lover of being outdoors at any given opportunity. Since spring and the improved weather I have been putting the two together ‘Park Yoga’. Well what an experience, incredibly therapeutic and provides many additional benefits. Although something which is upsetting and disappointing is the amount of litter and waste which is continually creeping more and more into our wildlife.

So myself and fellow Yoga Teacher Hannah Appleton joined together and decided to do something about it. To create more awareness, to generate conversations to get people interacting, talking, actioning and working together on this fight against waste.

We got in touch with our local City Council who were really happy to help us. They provided us with the necessary equipment required to make this event happen.

So all that was needed was a bunch of eager Yogi’s to join us in a strong outdoor practice, reconnecting to each other, reconnecting to nature and to our surroundings.

Practice complete and with everyone feeling energetic, ready to make the change we got on with the ‘clean up’ around the Forest Recreational Ground. We each gave an hour of our time and filled many bags full of plastic bottles, nappy/hand wipes, tin cans, plastic straw wrappers etc.

I think it was a big eye opener for everyone, that once you start looking you see so much waste. At a guess I would say 80% maybe more of what we collected could be recycled and the other 20% belong in the bins in the surrounding area.

From this everyone was connecting, contemplating, what can we do…?

Some great conversations and recommendations about what we can do in our own home to produce less waste were:

  • Switch to Soap Shampoo and Conditioner (Zero Packaging Waste) Link Here

  • Soap instead of Shower Gel (Zero Waste)

  • Tooth Tabs (Plastic Bottle can be recycled) Link Here

  • Switching to Bamboo Tooth Brush Link Here

  • Using a Compost Bin

  • Carry a Tote Bag

  • Where possible source more locally, support your community.

  • Refill (Invest in a good bottle, travel cup) Link Here to refill campaign.

  • Reuse (Where ever possible reuse what we already have, take our own cutlery, or invest in travel cutlery. I have reused egg boxes to plant seedlings. When hosting parties reuse cups etc.)

  • Loose Tea Leaves. Yes most, not all, teabags have plastic in them. Link Hereto see if the ones you use do.

Together we can make this change!

It starts with us!

However small you start make that change.

We are the consumer, ‘supply to demand’ if we demand change, if we choose alternative solutions the industries will have to keep up, they will have to change. The world is waking up and things are happening, plastic bags, straws and cotton buds are just the start.

HUGE THANK YOU to each and everyone who came and gave up their time Saturday, you made it a success.

And thank you to Nottingham City Council for all the equipment and for recycling the waste we collected and thank you to those who are reading this. You may already doing something at home to live a zero waste lifestyle or to those who are inspired and ready to take action.

Free Meditations
